Hitting The Target

The Enigma Team Challenge emphasizes the importance of accuracy and correct decision making when working as a team with a single goal.

The Enigma Team Challenge activity starts with the group being divided into different teams. We try to divide the group up in a way that ‘cliques’ are separated and new relationships are formed. The teams then go on to compete against each other in a number of challenges designed to test their abilities as a team and individual skills. Spy Dollars are awarded for each challenge and the team with the highest points at the end of the event is declared the winning team.

Some possible outcomes of the The Enigma Team Challenge include focus, improving accuracy, reaching goals, goal orientation, teamwork, communication, leadership, cooperation, goal setting, creative thinking, decision making, problem solving, resilience, time management and trust.

 

Examples of activities:

Minefield breach:  Teams have to successfully negotiate their blindfolded colleagues through a minefield, is there enough trust for your colleagues to do this successfully, and with accurate and clear communication?

Code breaking: A 15 minute challenge where agents decipher a series of cryptic clues to work out the correct sequence of wires to disconnect on an electronic device. Tension builds as the agent’s work against the digital clock and its relentless ticking.

Dead Letter Box: A lateral thinking problem that creates lots of discussion and ideas, where teams use equipment to solve a sequential puzzle and retrieve a locked cash box left by a friendly agent.

Thunderball: The ‘radioactive’ ball must be transported as slowly and carefully as possible for a controlled ‘storage’. More dollars are available for the extra twists, tricks and turns.
